The league page

Run one league from start to finish: its teams and divisions, every game, scores and forfeits, the table and the playoffs.

Do this

  1. Under Divisions, type a Division name and press Add division for each group.
  2. Under Enter one of your teams, pick a Team to enter and its Division, then press Enter team.
  3. Open Season schedule to build and publish the games.
  4. After each game, type both scores and press Save score, or Record a forfeit.
  5. Near the season's end, open Playoffs under a division and press Draw the playoff.

Stage

Where the league is: Being set up, Taking entries, Underway or Finished. Pick one and press Save stage.

While it is being set up, the public page is hidden. Publishing the season schedule moves the league on by itself, so you rarely need this.

Publishing closes entries. To add a team after that, press Take entries again, enter the team, and publish the season again.

Until you do, a notice says which entered teams have no games yet, with a link to the Season schedule.

Table, scores and make-ups

Three settings for the whole league:

  • Hide the table keeps the table to the club. The public page then shows games and scores only.
  • Let coaches enter scores lets each team's coaches enter their own games' scores, once. You can correct any.
  • The make-up window says how many days a postponed game has to be played.

Only staff enter scores turns the coaches' scoring off again.

Leave the make-up window empty and a postponed game can be made up any time before the season ends. Past the window, call the game off or record a forfeit.

A game is postponed when it is still on a day you called off. Its line says when it must be made up by.

Divisions and entries

Divisions are the groups teams play in, like "U12 Boys". With none, everybody plays everybody.

Entries lists every team in the league. Enter one of your teams adds one, from any season that is not closed.

Teams can be entered while the league is being set up or taking entries.

The season schedule plans by division, so a league with divisions schedules only the teams placed in one. A league with no divisions shows its teams under All teams.

Rename or withdraw beside a team corrects its name everywhere. Withdraw from the league takes it off the table and calls off every game it has left. Games already played stand.

A team in a playoff still to be played cannot be withdrawn. Record a forfeit for its game instead.

The table

Each division has its own table, ranked by win percentage. A tie counts as half a win.

Teams still level are split by head-to-head, then point difference, then points scored, then fewest forfeits.

Families see sets what the public page shows of that division: the table and scores, scores only, or no scores.

Win percentage means a team with a make-up still to play is not behind for having played fewer games.

Head-to-head counts only when every one of the level teams has played all the others. Otherwise it is skipped.

The public table shows only when the league's table is shown and the division is set to the table and scores.

Each game

Every game in the division, with its round, day, time, court and result.

Once a game has started, type the Home and Away scores and press Save score. Pressed again, it reads Correct score.

Both teams' families are told the result, and the table updates.

The club's owner, admins, directors and managers can enter scores here.

Check every team has every game puts any game missing from a team's schedule back on it. Press it if a coach says a game is not on their team's page.

Forfeits

A team that did not turn up: open Record a forfeit on the game once it has started, pick Who forfeited, and press Record forfeit.

The other team gets the win. A forfeit adds no points for or against either team.

Change the forfeit picks the other team. Clear forfeit leaves the game with no result. Entering a score replaces a forfeit.

Only the league's staff record forfeits, never a team's coach. Both teams' families are told.

Moving and calling off a game

Find a makeup slot beside a game lists the best open times for it. Prefer this to calling the game off, because a called-off game is never made up.

Move or call off on a game still to come takes a New date and New time, or a reason to Call off.

A move is refused onto a day nobody plays, a time one of the teams said it can't play, a time either team already plays, or a court somebody else has.

Keep it here when rebuilding keeps a game where it is when you publish the season again. Let a rebuild move it lets it go.

Calling off needs a reason, because the families read it. Both teams' families are told of every move and call-off.

A playoff game can be moved but not called off: it holds its place in the draw.

A day nobody can play

Snow, or the gym lost for the day: choose the day under A day nobody can play.

Press See what would move first. It says where each game would go, and nothing changes.

Then press Call off the day and move its games. Each game goes to its best makeup slot, and families are told.

This shows once the league is underway. With more than one court, Where can pick just one court, and the other courts play on.

The day becomes one nobody plays, so publishing again never puts games back on it. A game with no slot left in the make-up window is named, for you to move by hand, call off, or record a forfeit.

Playoffs

Under a division, open Playoffs. Set the Teams going through, the First game day, First game at, each game's length, the Court and the Rounds.

Press Draw the playoff. The top teams are seeded from the table: first plays last, and byes go to the top seeds.

Tick Play for third place for a game between the two beaten semi-finalists, just before the final.

If regular-season games are still to be played or scored, nothing is drawn and you are told how many. Tick Draw it anyway to go ahead on the table as it stands.

Every playoff game's court is held at once. If something is already on the court at one of those times, nothing is drawn.

A playoff score needs a winner. The winner's next game appears straight away. The playoff never changes the table.

Common questions

A team was entered after we published. Why has it no games?

Entering a team adds no games by itself. Publish the season again on the Season schedule. Games already played, scored, forfeited or moved by hand stay where they are.

Why is there no score box on a game?

Scores open once a game has started, and not for a called-off game. Only the club's owner, admins, directors and managers score here.

Can I change a playoff score?

You can always correct the score. Once the winner's next game is on the schedule, who won cannot change.

How do I keep the table private?

Press Hide the table. Or, for one division, set Families see to scores only or no scores.
