Placement assessment
Give each child booked on an assessment their starting level, or record that they were not placed or did not come.
Do this
- Record skills first, on the session's register from Today.
- For each child, pick a level under Place at.
- Add What you saw if you like. The family reads it.
- Press Place them.
- Or press Assessed, not placed, or Did not come.
Each child
One card per child booked: their name, and "not assessed yet" or their current level.
A child still to be decided has the form beneath. You only see the form for children you may place.
Once decided, the card says how: placed, assessed and not placed, or did not come.
Place them
Place at is the level the child starts at. Place them gives it to them.
Their family sees it on the level card, and the sessions at that level open to them.
What you saw is optional, and shown to the family.
A child already holding a higher level is not moved down. To place them lower, take that level back first, under Levels given on a session's register.
Assessed, not placed or Did not come
Assessed, not placed records that you saw the child and gave no level, perhaps to see them again.
Did not come records a child who was booked and did not turn up.
Neither gives a level. Each child is decided once per assessment.
What the levels mean
What the levels mean opens every level with its description. These are the same words the family reads, so you can place a child knowing what they will be told.
Common questions
Can I change a decision?
Not on this page: each child is decided once. If a level was wrong, take it back under Levels given on a session's register.
Why is there no form beside a child?
They have already been decided, or they are not a child you may place. Owners, admins and directors may place anybody; a coach places children on their own sessions.
Why will it not place a child lower?
They already hold a higher level, so placing them lower would change nothing. Take that level back first if they belong lower.
